Noah Seton

Prior to founding PollBuzzer, Noah was a management consultant at Bain & Company, where he advised clients in the financial services, healthcare, and consumer products industries on a range of strategic and operational issues. In addition, his practice included several engagements with private equity firms in their diligence of potential targets. Noah began his career as a litigation associate at the international law firm of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP, where he represented clients primarily in the media and financial services industries.

Noah is a graduate, cum laude, of Harvard Law School and magna cum laude of Harvard College, where he served as Student Body President. He lives in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts with his wife, daughter and son, and wheaten terrier.

Matt McLoughlin has more than 15 years of software development experience, dating back to 1996 when he started his first software company selling educational software on CompuServe, the first major commercial online service in the U.S. Before co-founding PollBuzzer, Matt led the global software development team for peerVue, Inc., building software for the radiology imaging market. His code and system architecture currently powers mission-critical applications used by physicians in hundreds of top-tier hospitals and emergency departments in North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Australia.

Matt received his undergraduate degree in Cognitive Science from Northwestern University. He currently lives in Boston, Massachusetts, and is an avid guitarist and outdoorsman in his spare time.

Amazon has a long history of innovations that keep its customers coming back: 1-Click purchase, reviews, free shipping (with a $35 purchase), Subscribe & Save and same-day delivery. And it continues to invest in speed. The company has spent $13.9 billion on order-fulfillment centers since 2010; it spends more than $2.9 billion a year in shipping costs; and it can now reach virtually the entire US population by two-day ground shipping. This year it expedited deliveries by partnering with the United States Postal Service to offer Sunday delivery. It also rolled out the Vendor Flex program, which ships orders directly from manufacturers’ warehouses. Investments like these have earned Amazon an industry-leading Net Promoter ScoreSM of 82% (Figure 1), well above the scores of traditional retailers according to a Bain/PollBuzzer survey.

"Bain worked with PollBuzzer to determine how many shoppers used shopping related mobile apps this Thanksgiving weekend. PollBuzzer surveyed 1,422 shoppers and found that 64% shopped in stores this holiday weekend. Of these 903 shoppers, 39% used at least one shopping-related mobile app. 24% of shoppers used price comparison apps, 24% used apps to access coupons, and 17% used in-store navigation and mapping apps."

PollBuzzer is excited to have collaborated with our friends at Bain & Company and to have our surveys featured in the latest issue of Bain's Retail Holiday Newsletter. Bain used PollBuzzer to survey approximately 900 consumers about how they intend to approach their shopping this Thanksgiving weekend. They found that 51% still intend to go to brick and mortar stores, while 29% said they intend to shop online only; and 20% do not intend to shop this Thanksgiving weekend at all.
